This is the little corner of Jackrabbitslim.net dedicated to Styrene dreams. It hosts pictures of my modelling feats, links to modelling related sites and reference information.
Modelling: What is it?
For some, it’s a hobby. For others, it’s an obsession. For most of us, it's a passion. A way for us to live out fantasies in miniature. In addition, I personally have just always enjoyed miniatures. Modelling is a way to have fun and relax, and a way to learn about history, events and machines. In an age where women fly jets and drive race cars, modelling is a hobby almost totally dominated by men -- I see more women pilots at my local Aero Club than I see on my favorite modelling web site.
Some take it to the extremes of detail, making sure just about every detail down to rivets, seen or not, is accounted for. While this is admirable and fun, there's something to be said for building a 'nice' model just for fun. I fall somewhere in between. I enjoy detailing models, but sometimes it can get long in the tooth, and it can be so time consuming. I just try to have fun, and sometimes building a simple little kkit is what the doctor ordered. I never build for contests, or anyone else. So sit back, pop open some Cyanoacrylate, and let me take ya for a flight in 1/48 scale.
